Model profile

Model history and generations

From launch to today

Aston Martin revealed the DBX in late 2019, with US deliveries beginning in 2020 for the 2021 model year. It is built at the purpose-built plant in St Athan, Wales. The line-up was a single V8 variant until 2022, when the range-topping DBX707 arrived and quickly became the volume seller in America.

Powertrain and equipment

Engines, drivetrain and trims

Engines and drivetrain in detail

Every US-market DBX uses the 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 (Mercedes-AMG M177 architecture) that Aston Martin fits across its range. In the standard DBX it produces around 542 hp and 700 Nm; the DBX707 raises that to roughly 697 PS and 900 Nm, courtesy of new turbochargers and revised cooling.

Trim levels and variants

The DBX is a five-door, five-seat SUV only; there is no long-wheelbase or coupe body in this generation for the US.

When importing makes sense

Importing suits a buyer who wants a specific colour-and-spec combination, a well-kept low-mileage 707, or simply a wider selection than the domestic used market offers.

Pre-purchase review

Model-specific inspection points

Reliability and common problems

The technical assessment depends on model year, powertrain, software status, maintenance history, recalls and the condition of the specific vehicle. USCar Trader can review these points within the agreed vehicle-inspection scope.

Germany and Europe

Differences, adaptation and registration

How US versions differ

US-market headlights use the FMVSS/SAE beam pattern, which differs from the ECE pattern required in the EU, so they may need adjustment or replacement with ECE-compliant units for registration.

From US purchase to registration

The assessment depends on the specific vehicle and the circumstances of the transaction. Please contact USCar Trader before purchase; we review any possible duty benefit and provide non-binding support. Import VAT and other costs are considered separately.

TÜV, approval and license plates

Typical changes for German approval include converting or adding a rear fog lamp, adjusting or replacing headlamp units for European beam patterns, and confirming the odometer reads correctly (kilometres are usually handled at registration rather than by physical change).

USCar Trader services

Inspection, purchase processing and escrow

As a buyer based in Germany, you do not have to inspect the vehicle yourself in the United States or Canada. Within the agreed scope, USCar Trader can coordinate document review, a separately commissioned on-site inspection and purchase processing.

  • Vehicle profile and history: The profile can show the VIN, US title status and available history records. No data source guarantees that every earlier event was reported.
  • Optional CARFAX report: Additional reported maintenance or service entries can be included. The report is not a complete service book or proof of every interval.
  • On-site inspection / USCT AutoCheck: USCar Trader can arrange a separately booked vehicle inspection. Agreed visible and accessible areas are documented. Road or functional tests require suitable access and seller approval; the visual review is not a lift inspection or workshop diagnosis.
  • Purchase processing and escrow: After approval, USCar Trader can coordinate seller contact, negotiation, contract and the escrow and import service. Fees, payment route and responsibilities are recorded in advance.
  • Recalls: Open safety recalls can be checked by VIN through the NHTSA recall search; they do not describe overall condition.

Covered inspection points are agreed in advance. An on-site inspection records condition at the appointment and is not a guarantee.

Next step: Before commissioning, USCar Trader and the customer agree which document, history, inspection and transaction checks suit the vehicle and are included in the service. This records what was actually checked.

Questions and answers

Common questions about importing this model

Can I import any used Aston Martin DBX from the USA?

Yes, provided the car has a clean title and passes inspection. We check the VIN, history and condition before you commit.

Does this vehicle automatically qualify for a 0% import-duty rate?

No, not automatically. A 0% EU import-duty rate may be available for a vehicle covered by Regulation (EU) 2026/1455 that has US origin and is imported directly into the EU. CETA may apply to a vehicle with preferential Canadian origin. Whether the requirements are met is assessed for the individual case. Please contact USCar Trader before purchase; we review the possible duty benefit and provide non-binding support. Import VAT and other costs are assessed separately.

What is the difference between the DBX and the DBX707?

The 707 has more power (around 697 PS), a wet-clutch nine-speed, revised cooling and a more rear-biased setup. It is the faster, more focused car.

Is the V8 the same as in European cars?

Yes, the 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 is mechanically identical, which makes parts and servicing straightforward in Germany.

How long does the import take?

Typically several weeks from purchase to registration, driven mainly by ocean freight and the customs and TÜV steps.

Are US cars usually well equipped?

Often yes. American DBX cars are frequently specified with options that cost extra in Europe.

How is the specific vehicle assessed before purchase?

The records required for purchase, export, transport, approval and assessment of the specific vehicle depend on the transaction. Before purchase, USCar Trader agrees the required scope with you and supports the process within the commissioned service.

Can you handle a DBX707 with a modified exhaust?

We assess each car; non-standard parts may need documentation or reversal to pass TÜV. We flag this before purchase.
